Car Seat Canopy

I have been wanting to make one of these for a while now, but didn't get an opportunity until now.For an upcoming baby shower of a friend, I decided to try my hand on it. This canopy goes on top of the carseat to keep the baby safe and warm from cold breeze and light. I found the directions for making it here

I made a single side canopy(not reversible as shown in the tutorial), and I also made a slight variation of adding an opening in the front. I thought it would be convenient to check on or feed baby through this opening, instead of picking up the whole canopy.

I knew the color of the car seat she had bought, so color choice of canopy was easy for me. I found this soft and sturdy zebra print cordrouy fabric at Hancock, and a bright pink plain fabric to go with it.

For the opening in front, I put a velcro, so it would be easy to open and close. I made a felt flower to go on top of this opening. This flower is attached to the canopy with a velcro. So it can be later removed and used later in many different ways.

For the handles, I used a pink grosgrain ribbon to decorate it.

Now waiting for the much awaited baby to come and use it.
